Knock-Out Punch Intro
I liken the point I am about to make to the knock-out punch in boxing—it
settles the match. In this section we’ll explore the implications of
what the Bible clearly states in Acts 15:8, and elsewhere in the New
Testament: that anyone who has received the Spirit is a Christian.
Since this doctrine enjoys basically unanimous support among conservative
theologians—the very ones who most often attack queers—its queer
implications are unstoppable. It is my contention that queer Christians do
exist, and they have been authenticated by receiving the Spirit. (Note:
Try to avoid getting caught up in whether or not you personally accept the
theology behind the argument I am making here. Instead, focus on learning
how a key belief in the conservative Christian's own theology undermines
his or her whole case against us queers).
